Oh. Em. Gee. The crack is strong with this one.
Reason #2,379 why
scans_daily has a "crack" tag (along with other useful ones like "context is for the weak", "wtf" and "boobs don't work that way"): The Codpiece.
(Lamest. Origin story. Ever. Even for a D-list supervillain.)
There is a delightful insanity to the number of drills, laser beams, boxing gloves and missiles that burst out of his...phallic symbol. The writers, the artists - heck, the whole creative team - must've been high when they made this. ALL MUST PARTAKE OF THE CRACK!
And on a different, if tangentially related, topic: you know how if a telepath's trying to dig out a deep secret in your mind and you're resisting, or you're straining your psychic abilities to the max, you get a nosebleed? Sometimes even an ear- or eye-bleed, too? Yeah.
Well, Scott over at Polite Dissent (who also does House, MD medical nitpicks) has a collection of Psychic Nosebleed Zen from comics and the occasional movie or tv show. It starts here with a look at possible causes for the newly-dubbed epistaxis telepathica, and the whole collection is here. He also looks at the history of the psychic nosebleed here, citing the earliest occurrence as David Cronenberg's 1981 film Scanners. Try not to bleed on the carpet :P.
