To mark the end of an era
Oct. 21st, 2009 06:14 pmAww, someone took down the ONE WAY JESUS sign that has hung for time immemorial in a window of the blocky concrete apartments on the left of the Harbour Bridge as you drive into the city. They've replaced it with some slick soulless new Jesus sign, but it's just not the same.
I had great fondness for that sign. They recently tried to make it less grammatically ambiguous with the addition of an exclamation mark, which instead served to make it sound grouchy (ONE WAY! JESUS). I think we all know they needed ONE WAY: JESUS instead, and every time I went into the city I thought about grammar and punctuation in signs (and tabloid newspapers).
