Play it again, Sam
Oct. 20th, 2009 11:36 pmThis was originally going to be a longer post about the role music has played in getting me hooked on various TV shows (e.g. 'Devil's Playground' in the season 2 opener of Life, the Pogues/Flogging Molly-esque song at the beginning of the rehab ep of Leverage), but then - as can be seen below - I got entirely distracted by checking out Guy Gross's resume for East West 101. So...yeah.
East West 101 has the most gorgeously awesome intro music. It's an instrumental that really captures the heart of the series - a fast-paced blend of police sounds with Middle Eastern music. Makes me want to watch despite the racist bleepers Detective Malik has to deal with (righteous outrage: it's bad for my blood pressure!). I don't often pay attention to the music-writers on tv shows, but Guy Gross is a top-notch composer (not that the world needs telling, Mister ridiculously-talented award-winning dude).
ETA - OMG he's the Gross of Yoram Gross Film Studios! Blinky Bill, Dot and the Whale... Wow, childhood flashback. Okay, the rest of the post has vanished from my mind.
What about you? Any TV music moments stand out in your mind?
