Another day of finding more musicians to love. Percussion has featured strongly. :)

First up, Sweet Baby James and Rob Eyers. Rhythm and blues, ranging from a driving swing beat to the laid-back rhythms of a late night blues bar. Totally, totally cool.

Second show, "Lightning Jack" Ceriani (with Mick Burley on harmonica). These young guys have met about three times total, and they don't rehearse. They just jam together, and the result was amazing. As well as a steel resonator guitar and stomp box, Jack had a "banjolin" called Pearl that he'd made himself which produced such a gorgeous sound.

And the final show of the evening (because I'm a tired wuss who couldn't face the thought of ten minutes in a loud pub right now, not even for Ghost Road), Blues Preachers. Pre-war blues, rags, gospel, and hillbilly sounds (an honest-to-goodness washboard and thimbles, seriously). These guys were an absolute joy to listen to - they played well over their allotted time, and still gave an encore. The line for their CD, as you can imagine, was long. Deservedly so.
