Eurovision preliminary finals
May. 12th, 2007 11:43 pmYou know what's the problem with Eurovision? There's so many voting blocs, nobody votes for the songs which are AWESOME! Like Israel's 'Push the Button', which is this year's 'We Are the Winners...of Eurovision!' (woo Lithuania!). That and Poland ("Let's party, you've got the right to party!" for the win. Seriously, that song had everything...chicks in Rocky Horror shortstuff in a cage, and guys in hiphop hat-singlet-pants combo, and just...so ridiculous it crossed over into cool).
I thought Andorra was Euro-winner fodder, too, but none of these guys got through.
Wake up, voters of Euro-pap! Instead of gravelly-voiced Czech rock and utterly bizarre 70s disco-funk throwback Belgium, I've got the Turkish George Michael, last year's Bulgarian tribal-drums-and-chainmail, and some chick from Slovenia singing operaballad weirdness with a glowy hand.
And theTen Six Tenors from Latvia with their "finish your drinks and go home, people" feelgood swaying ballad thing. In top hats. Gah!
