After a day of helping with the new strawberry patch (well, mainly standing around and occasionally passing the hose or holding up the hessian) and picking out fabrics for my mum's next quilt, I decided to try out a new recipe for Arroz con leche, Spanish rice pudding. It's gorgeously simple - milk, arborio rice, caster sugar, a large strip of orange zest, a cinnamon quill and vanilla essence, all cooked up in a saucepan until they magically coalesce into yummy, creamy pudding.

Maybe tomorrow I'll convince my dad we need to make some gelato, or foccacia, or bolognaise. *Something* involving kitchen wizardry.

I obviously need to make some kind of Mad Scientist Chef icon. In the meantime, an evil penguin will have to do :).
