I've accumulated a veritable mountain of fics and such to pass on. Clearly this list will not grow any shorter if I wait to post, so here is a multimedia selection. (multimedia!)
Vids:
Two Supernatural vids:
Growing Up by
sweetestdrain; and
Women's Work by Luminosity (
sockkpuppett) and
sisabet.
'Growing Up' is a look at family, and journeys, and the turning points Sam and Dean have been through over the seasons. 'Women's Work' is more serious fare, critiquing the portrayal of female characters on the show (as victims-of-the-week, as love interests, as villains). Both are a great example of vidding, and make me wish I kept track of it better.
Webcomic:
Zebra Girl. I stumbled on this while wandering the TV Tropes Wiki, and read through the seven-or-so years of strips in one sitting. Basically, Jack and Crystal find your typical arcane tome in the attic, roomie Sandra gets turned into a demon, hijinks (and lowjinks) ensue. It starts off light on story, but pretty soon gets into epic plot arcs, world-broadening and character growth, kickass action scenes, werewolves, etc. Also, the art improves dramatically. The outline gives a helpful breakdown of story 'chapters' - it's in the middle of a new plot arc, so the latest page won't make much sense to newcomers.
Fanfic (complete):
I Am the Very Model (SPN) by
vorpalblades.
Jake killed Sam, but Sam came back. Sam killed Jake, and Jake stayed dead. That means Sam won, and to the victor goes the spoils, right? Yeah, that’s what the rest of Hell thought too.
Down Time (Burn Notice/Casino Royale) by
mayatawi.
Michael Westen was being punished.
They didn't say that, of course, because the CIA boys were bureaucrats at heart, only with more guns, and no one was better than a bureaucrat at sprinkling sugar on a load of crap. Light duty, they called it. Think of it as a vacation, they told him. See the sights, they said.
"A vacation," Michael echoed. "In Prague."
Dan's voice crackled over the secure line. "You got something against Prague?"
"Oh, not at all. Lovely city. Lovely people. Some of them haven't even tried to kill me yet."
An inexplicable occurance of tentacles (bandom/Stargate: Atlantis) by
ignipes.
Carvings, paintings, John doesn't really care if Dr. Way was studying Wraith sidewalk chalk, he just wants to know how three of his men--well, two and a half, because Dr. Iero is pretty small--ended up in the infirmary with what Dr. Keller referred to as "an inexplicable occurrence of tentacles." The way she'd said it makes John wonder if there are, in fact, explicable occurrences of tentacles nobody on Atlantis has told him about.
Life and Death in the Cereal Aisle (Dexter/SPN) by
kronos999. Pre-series for both.
In which Dexter has a debate over the virtues of All Bran, Sam wants Lucky Charms and Dean sees a monster in the grocery store.
Invaders from Outer Space and Other Impossible Things to See Before You Die (SPN) by
ignipes.
"Never seen one of those before," over and over again, and after a couple of months Sam realizes that's Dean's new mantra. "Never killed one of those before. Never met anyone like that before. Never knew a girl who could do that with her--"
"Dean!"
"Dude, chill. I'm just telling you, I've never seen it before."
Lightning Fast and All Alone (Highlander/SPN) by
vaznetti. Post-ep for SPN 1.16, "Shadow".
The past weighs heavy on Duncan MacLeod, and the future on John Winchester.
Always Some Door Open (SPN) by
dotfic. Bodyswap fic! Agent Henricksen learns the truth.
After what felt like half a century, someone pounded on the door. Sam jerked to his feet and walked over to it, but didn't open it yet.
"Dean?"
"No, it's the FBI," Victor heard his own voice, annoyed and muffled through the door. "Well actually, it really is the fucking FBI. Sort of."
Monsters in the Closet (SPN) by
fryadvocate.
Azazel's third daughter would always be the one who understood humans the best.
Mirror'd Across the Rift (Torchwood/Doctor Who) by
mhalachaiswords.
Sometimes, it seems as if the dark-haired girls named Gwen will always be the ones to save Cardiff...
The Doctor and Mr Jones (Torchwood/Doctor Who) by
copperbadge.
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5
The Doctor thought he was alone in the universe -- but Torchwood is about to prove him wrong.
Fanfic (long):
Sherlock Holmes and the Ravenclaw Codex (Sherlock Holmes/Harry Potter) by
dolorous_ett.
Holmes accepts a most unusual case.
The Man with No Name (Firefly/Doctor Who) by Frostfyre7.
He hadn't really counted on getting into a pub brawl over the color of his coat on some speck of a planet, or signing up with a crew of petty criminals. Still, he'd always wondered what really happened to those Lost Colonists from Earth...
Defect (Criminal Minds/SPN) by
kikkimax.
Sam has a plan to get Dean out of his deal. But four days before D-day, Dean gets caught...
Red (SPN) by
big_pink.
Something evil is killing treeplanters in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, possibly the same predator that Dean narrowly escaped years before. How Grimm will things get before the brothers figure it out?
Fanfic (WiP):
It's Called E.S.P. (Psych/X-Men) by
wizefics. Five chapters so far, probably a bit over halfway through.
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5
"Most mutants are trying to stay out of the public spot light. You’re not even a mutant and you’re putting yourself out there. It’s dangerous."
"Don’t be so dramatic," Shawn threw the foam ball at the goal and it fell woefully short before it rolled over to land at Gus’s feet. Gus picked it up and tossed it in the net with no fanfare. With a smug look at his best friend, he dusted off his hands.
"That’s not fair. You’re naturally good at basketball!" Shawn protested.
"Why?" Gus demanded icily. "Because I’m black?"
"No." Shawn narrowed his eyes, looking out the window at the street. "Because you’re a mutant. I can’t believe you never told me."
"I’m not a mutant."
"It’s okay. You can tell me. We’ve been best friends forever. I won’t judge."
"You’re crazy." Gus sighed and turned back to his paper.
Holy Water Like Cheap Whiskey (bandom/SPN) by
ignipes. Seven chapters of a projected eight, so almost-not-a-WiP.
Mikey never listens to music anymore, not since the night he stumbled out the back door of a club too wasted to notice that the girl he was following had eyes that flashed black as coal and there was probably something a little bit strange about that.
Physics of the Spin (Gilmore Girls/Stargate) by
mhalachaiswords. Ten chapters so far, all fairly self-contained.
Rory Gilmore always thought she was Christopher Hayden's daughter, but things are a little more complicated than that...
(I don't rec WiPs unless there's a good chance they'll be finished soon (or they're from a reliable author), so don't be put off by the "in progress" sign...)
