Five to one is a brodeo

So. New Star Trek film. Good fun, no? But with a sad lack of more Uhuras being all actiony and smart and, idk, having lines of dialogue and not being absent/murdered mothers. (Also, lack of miniskirt uniforms on men, but I digress...) I mean, this is the 23rd century, a land Federation of sweets and joy and joy-ness! Women are presumably still ~50% of the human population, and Starfleet is the place to be! Where are they?
