Birthday blues
Jun. 3rd, 2009 11:29 pm"Blues mix upcoming!"... since February. Wow. I've had the mix together for a while and haven't posted it because life and work and lazy. I needed a sign... By happy coincidence there are 26 tracks in the mix, so today is as good a day as any for the sharing of music :).
Because it's my birthday and I'm not a masochist, I've only posted commentary for the first half of the mix - second half goes uptomorrow Wednesday an undefined but finitely future time.
So without further ado, a selection of twenty-six songs about love, life, drinking and death (you know, the good stuff):

The point of this mix, as with last year's, is to give people a taste of some of the great musicians who played at the National Blues Festival. Two years ago I hadn't heard of a single one of these people - wouldn't have known to seek them out on stage or in a music store - and that's a crying shame. So, a tasting-platter pour vous.
Feedback is wonderful - if you find an artist in here that you like, let me know! Buy their CDs if you can. They were all outstanding on stage, and if you get a chance to see them perform somewhere you won't be disappointed. Hope you enjoy!
