Mojo working? Check.
Feb. 13th, 2009 01:28 pmThe blues festival started last night as I hope it will continue - with foot-stompingly awesome music :). Matt Taylor and Phil Manning (of legendary Australian blues group Chain) kicked things off with a conversational, yarning series of songs - favourites include Matt's 'Mumma Only Loves You Cos You Wear Sensible Shoes', Phil's 'Travellin' Highway Blues', and their "Queensland swamp boogie" 'Northern Sun'.
Then there was West Australian band HomeBrew, a five-man Chicago-style rhythm and blues outfit. The whole set was great, and included a funky cover of 'Born Under a Bad Sign' as well as a song I'm guessing was called 'Walking the Floor', and finished with a rousing version of 'Got My Mojo Working' (because who doesn't love some Muddy Waters?). (brb, loling forever at the drummer's awesomely gravity-defying dandelion hair)
More music this evening!
