I love rainy days.
Outside is grey, wet and cold, and I've been sitting inside listening to episodes of The Goon Show and playing with the colourful tinfoil from some early Easter eggs. So I'm easily amused: sue me.
My parents were in Sydney yesterday, and in a few days time I'll be with them in Goulburn over the long weekend. It was really great to see them (and go fabric shopping with my mum - quilts, toys, wall hangings, you name it. Fabric fetish!), and also to see Athena, my remaining whippet. Last week my other dog, Fawn, was bitten by a brown snake and died. Needless to say we've all been mourning her, but at least us humans can talk to each other and share our grief. Theena's just curled up on the couch and not moved much, such that my mum thought she might've been bitten by a snake. But she cheered up a bit during her stay here, and it was wonderful to see a bounce in her step again.
The downside of all this rain is that my fledgeling jelly palm, Booty (butia capitata), keeled over and died. It may be drought tolerant, but soggy-root-tolerant it ain't. Sigh. Looks like a trip to Palmland for me.
Anyway, there's an apartment meeting in the garage in fifteen minutes, so I'd best be off. Then time to make cherry guava jam. Yum!
